Crystal Palace is eyeing up Trevoh Chalobah as a potential replacement for Marc Guehi. The 25-year-old, expected to leave Chelsea this summer, was not included in their pre-season tour of the United States.
Chalobah, a regular under Mauricio Pochettino towards the end of last season, started eight of their last nine Premier League matches. However, with Enzo Maresca taking over in June, it seems Chalobah may not fit into the new plans, leading to Chelsea preparing to sell the centre-back.
According to The Telegraph, Crystal Palace is considering a move for Chalobah if they lose Guehi before the end of the summer. Chelsea values Chalobah at around £25 million.
Meanwhile, Newcastle is interested in Guehi, who impressed for England at Euro 2024. The Magpies are looking to add another centre-back to their squad this summer. With less than two years left on his contract, Palace is tempted to cash in on Guehi.
Guehi, who moved from Chelsea to Palace three years ago for £19 million, has been touted for a fee of around £65 million. Chelsea included a sell-on clause in the deal, potentially leading to a significant transfer windfall.
Chelsea has had a busy summer transfer window, making seven additions, including Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Filip Jorgensen, Omari Kellyman, Renato Veiga, Caleb Wiley, Marc Guiu, and Tosin Adarabioyo. They have also agreed on a deal for Estevao Willian, scheduled to join in 2025.
Players leaving west London this summer include Omari Hutchinson, Lewis Hall, Ian Maatsen, Hakim Ziyech, Malang Sarr, Thiago Silva, and Alfie Gilchrist.
